Today, I spent the day in the clinic again and saw patients. Two cases stood out to me today.
First, we had a patient with a possible postoperative infection. This patient had been put on a strong blood thinner after their surgery, so their wound didn't close properly. Postoperative infections in joint replacement patients because if the joint itself gets infected, the metal components might have to be removed and replaced, or just removed until the infection clears up. Tomorrow, we will re-open her incision to prevent her knee from getting worse.
