Teacher Creature Project
Project ReflectionFor this project, we were asked to create a photo in Photoshop where we turn a teacher into something or someone else. We could turn them into something else, someone else, into a different setting entirely, or all three.
I chose Steve Smith, because I had a good idea for what I would do coming in to this project. We had been arguing about how awesome Christmas is - he is rather Grinch-y - so I decided to have him plant a Christmas tree on Mars. I learned a lot of different techniques including how to blend pictures better, how to create shadows that make things look more realistic, and how to change hues to make different pictures look like they're sharing a light source. One of the things that I didn't foresee when I started this project was that everything I added had to have just a small change in hue so it looked like the red sand was reflecting onto the objects. I think the hardest part of this project for me was creating all of the colors to look continuous and to have the right perspective when adding things into the distance. Also, I found myself looking for shapes that fit together well when looking for pictures, because I wanted to focus on how to make things flow better. I learned quite a bit about my artistic style too- I like to make things realistic, and then my weird side kicks in. The earlier drafts of this picture look fairly real, and then I added the Christmas tree. Oh well. |
