The Morality and Politics of Justice
Artist Statement
My political campaign poster represents my perspective on the American government’s policy on cyber monitoring. I believe that the way the government is invading our privacy and violating our right to personal safety is completely unjust. I used pathos by appealing to a person’s sense of security through the little boy being watched through the camera, then ethos by showing the person’s private information being downloaded. My poster is intended to be a little bit dark and unnerving, but its point was to make the viewer think more about how they should be putting more effort and paying more attention to protecting their personal privacy.
I’m really proud of the way my poster came out as it clearly symbolizes my perspective on justice as it regards to my subject. I am confident that my poster, using the quote along with the pictures and the dark coloring, presents a foreboding tone regarding our government infringing on our personal liberties. I wish I could have improved my poster by adding an aspect that showed how widespread the problem is.
